Colombia Nariño Buesaco Washed

Coffees from the Nariño region tend to taste quite zippy and citric. This one, grown at over 6000ft above sea level, benefits from cooler nights which slow the cherry-growing process. This means the fruit preserves its acidity while having time to convert some starch into sugar. It manifests in an extremely clean, citric-forward cup tamed by a sweeter fruit finish.
Sam loves this coffee and swears it tastes like a watermelon Jolly Rancher. It’s undeniably tangy upfront, mellows into mandarin orange, then finishes with watermelon. It makes for an excellent breakfast cup that stands up well to, say, a bacon-egg-and-cheese sandwich (salt, pepper, hot sauce, of course).
On a personal note, this is one of three beans we offered friends and family via a Google Form way back when. Since then, we’ve become better roasters, upgraded our actual roaster three times, and grown into a whole business. Getting to come back to this bean at scale has made us extra appreciative of everyone who’s trusted us with their coffee.
