These coffee beans began their journey in the West Arsi region of southeast Ethiopia. The harvest is the collective work of about 850 smallholder farmers who take pride in, and pay attention to, every step of the process. From growing the coffee under certified organic methods to meticulously rotating the beans for even drying over the course of 15-18 days, it’s no surprise that the crop they produced is amazing.
We’re getting a red-fruit-forward cup with some chocolate in the background. What’s unique about this coffee is that it has more body than most any light natural Ethiopian coffee we’ve come across. It’s not a heavy cup so much as one with a creamy, silky mouthfeel. We’re tasting strawberry, cacao, and pomegranate. Like a Victoria sponge cake dusted in chocolate. It’s quickly become one of our favorite Ethiopian coffees.
